Gabe Witcher is a Grammy-winning multi-instrumentalist / Producer / Composer / Arranger best known for his work with the genre-bending acoustic quintet, Punch Brothers. Throughout his nearly 40-year career, he has worked with a wide range of artistic luminaries, including Paul Simon, Elton John, Yo-Yo Ma, Willie Nelson, T Bone Burnett and Jon Batiste.
With decades of experience as a first call session musician helping bring beloved scores to life, Gabe has turned his sights to composing for visual media, writing the scores to Nickelodeon’s “Are You Afraid of the Dark” (2021), the film “The Peanut Butter Falcon” and additional music for Red Dead Redemption 2, The Hunger Games, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and many others.
As an arranger, Gabe has premiered works with the San Francisco Symphony, Boston Pops, and Kennedy Center’s National Symphony. Gabe also frequently appears as a featured soloist on many award-winning film and television scores, including Oscar Winners Brokeback Mountain, Toy Story and Babel, Cars, The Good Dinosaur, Inside Llewyn Davis, Better Call Saul and Nashville.
In the fall of 2023 Gabe premiered a new arrangement of Copeland’s Rodeo for bluegrass ensemble with the the Martha Graham Dance Company and will be featured in Willie Nelson’s 90th Birthday celebration concert live from the Hollywood Bowl.
